Training Overview

This National Flood Insurance Program Review Course was developed for New Jersey municipal, county, and state officials, as well as the general public, looking to expand their knowledge of floodplain management and obtain their Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) certification. This course was developed and sponsored by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP), Division of Dam Safety and Flood Engineering, Bureau of Flood Engineering, 2017-2020. It is now being hosted by the New Jersey Association for Floodplain Management https://www.njafm.org/.

The course features two days of in-person instruction along with online self-paced instruction utilizing this website. This course website includes slide presentations, video presentations, quiz questions, and links to the FEMA 480 Guide and other useful documents. All 10 Units from the FEMA 480 Guide are covered, in addition to a New Jersey-specific Unit 11.
